Harry volta a casa dos seus tios no Verão, onde estes recebem a visita da tia Margen, que não parava de insultar os pais de Harry. Por isso, Harry fugiu de casa e foi surpreendido pelo "Autocarro-cavaleiro", que o levou ao Caldeirão escoante onde iria ficar até que o período escolar em Hogwarts começa-se. Estranhou no entanto uma visão que teve de um grande cão gigante e preto que o perseguia, todos diziam que isso significava um mau persságio. Ora o porque de este livro se chamar Harry Potter e O Prisioneiro de Azkabam é que aparentemente o maior criminoso na prisão dos feitiçeiros, Sirius Black, que era seu padrinho, era o responsável ( aparentemente tinha ajudado Voldermort a encontrar os pais de Harry ) pela morte dos seus pais e andava atrás de Harry. Para além de ser o responsável por um assasinio gravissimo támbem tinha morto 13 pessoas incluindo Petter Piterwing . Mas no fim Harry tira a verdade a limpo e percebe que afinal o responsável por todos os crimes a que o seu padrinho tinha sido acusado não passavam de historias mal contadas , pois Petter Piterwing é que os tinha cometido, ou seja afinal não estava morto. But a strange vision he had of black and giant dog who was behind him, everyone said it was bad. But why is this book called Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban is apparently the biggest criminal in prison for wizards, Sirius Black, who was his godfather, was responsible (apparently had helped Voldemort to find Harry's parents) by death of their parents and walked behind Harry. It was not only responsible for one dead also had killed 13 people including Petter Piterwing. But in the end Harry takes the truth and realize that after all, responsible for all the crimes that his godfather had been accused were just badly told stories, as Petter Piterwing is that he had committed, or was not dead after all. Lived 13 years in the form of mouse, Scabbers.
